Telesis CEO and Founder Awarded
2007 Women of Innovation Award
for AmeriSource Program
HARTFORD, CT, January 29, 2007
-- Nine women, whose expertise ranged from cancer research to software
development to robotics, were named winners of the 2007 Women of Innovation
awards by the Connecticut Technology Council. Patty
Sue Williams, President & CEO of Telesis LLC, received
the award for Entrepreneurial Innovation.
According
to Matthew Nemerson, the President of the CTC, the organization presents
awards annually as a way to "create a culture of innovation in the
State, which is important for attracting and creating new business and
keeping young people here." The
sold-out event took place on January 25 at The Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut.
Winners were selected by the event's steering committee, which includes
past winners and representatives from the event's sponsors, such as United
Technologies. 120 women were nominated in eight categories by co-workers,
colleagues, lawmakers and members of various organizations; 51 finalists
were chosen.
Upon
acceptance of the award, Williams spoke about her innovative new program -
AmeriSource - that led to her recognition for entrepreneurial innovation.
Under Williams' leadership, Telesis created a program to select top
students from Connecticut's
colleges and leverage Telesis’s quality assurance expertise and
training programs to develop them into highly skilled QA consultants. By
using Telesis’s copyrighted techniques, the company can offer quality
assurance services at rates competitive with offshore operations.
"This
has been an ongoing challenge, but we are achieving our goal to maintain IT
jobs in Connecticut, while keeping our clients’ costs competitive
with companies across the globe," stated Williams. Telesis has
collaborated with both the State of Connecticut Department of Labor and
premier client companies such as Hartford Steam Boiler and Chubb Insurance
on this project.
