Telesis CEO and Founder, Patty Sue Williams, Awarded 2007 Women of Innovation Award
HARTFORD, CT, January 29, 2007 -- Nine women, whose expertise ranged from cancer research to software development to robotics were named winners of the 2007 Women of Innovation awards on January 25th. Winners were selected by the event's steering committee, which includes past winners and representatives from the event's sponsors, which include Day Pitney LLP, Pfizer Inc. and United Technologies Corp. 120 women were nominated in eight categories by co-workers, colleagues, lawmakers and members of various organizations; 51 finalists were chosen.
Rebecca R. Rhoads, vice president and chief information officer of Raytheon Co., gave the keynote address. The sold-out event was held Thursday night at The Waterview in Monroe.
The awards are given annually by the Connecticut Technology Council and were created as a way to "create a culture of innovation in the state, important for attracting and creating new business and keeping young people here" according to Matthew Nemerson, President and CEO of the Connecticut Technology Council.
Patty Sue Williams, President & CEO of Telesis LLC received the award for Entrepreneurial Innovation. Upon acceptance of the award, Ms. Williams talked about her innovative new program - AmeriSource - that led to her award for entrepreunerial innovation. Under Ms. Williams' leadership, Telesis has developed a program to select top students from Connecticut's colleges and leverage Telesis' quality assurance expertise and training programs to develop highly skilled QA consultants. By using Telesis copyrighted techniques to increase employee productivity, Telesis can offer quality assurance services at rates competitive with offshore operations.
"This has been a tough challenge but we've achieved our goal to keep IT jobs in Connecticut while keeping costs for our customers competitive with companies across the globe" stated Ms. Williams.
Telesis has collaborated with both the State of Connecticut Department of Labor, and premier client companies such as HSB and Chubb Insurance on this project to help grow IT jobs in Connecticut.
